Today 10 of our Year 2 DLs attended the first Brighton Kidsmeet. We were the youngest children as everyone else was either Year 4,5 or6. After we arrived we all got to know each other and then we did a binary number activity.
We watched a video message from the Digital Leaders at Downlands School in Dorset.
Each group had a maximum time of 7 minutes to present to the others an aspect of their ICT learning that they had enjoyed.
Our DL presentations were on Scratch, Clay yourself (avatar maker) and Lego Wedo. I was so very proud of all the children. They spoke clearly and explained how to use these programs very well. I was particularly impressed with the way they operated the computers and programmed ‘live’ even though they were feeling very nervous. They also listened carefully to the other presentations and asked very good questions afterwards. It was lovely to see them being so supportive of the other children and praising their efforts too.
Unfortunately the presentations took a lot longer than planned so we didn’t get around to doing the imovie activity we had planned but never mind – next time!
